Do you have a make and model? This should help us get started. Your hard drive on the laptop should be extractable, so we can hook it up to another computer. Another possibility is to hook up your laptop to an external monitor so you can work with it and get backups done.

Save yourself some money and time. Once you figure out how to remove the hard drive. Buy one of these and follow the instructions.

I would just hook it up to a monitor and burn the pictures to cd or dvd. You then have a backup you can put in a safe place and then go about getting another system.

Did you try hooking up to an external monitor? I have two right now with broken LCD's and both function on regular monitors. Do you have another older laptop? Most have two hard drive controller and you could just take the drive out of the broken laptop and place it into the other one to get everything off. What kind of laptop is it? I have a few older ones sitting around.
